D-backs outlasted by Padres in 16, drop finale

PHOENIX -- A home run by Wil Myers in the 16th inning off catcher-turned-pitcher Jeff Mathis propelled the Padres past the D-backs, 4-3, in a Sunday afternoon marathon at Chase Field.

The D-backs held leads of 2-1 and 3-2, but each time, the Padres managed to find a way to even things up.

Arizona starter Zack Greinke seemed to have trouble locating his pitches, as he lasted just 4 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and three walks.

Greinke departed with a 3-2 lead, but reliever Randall Delgado allowed a one-out double to Manuel Margot and a two-out RBI single to pinch-hitter Jose Pirela to tie the game.
