Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray searching for last year’s form

DENVER – During a bullpen session in the sizzling heat at Coors Field, the pitcher who might be the most important to the Diamondbacks’ success believes he might have rediscovered his delivery.

Left-hander Robbie Ray’s dominance last season raised his own expectations of what he is capable of doing. He has not lived up to them this year. He has walked too many. He has given up more hard contact. He has not pitched deep into games.

With one start left before the All-Star break, the Diamondbacks have hardly seen the version of Ray they were counting on atop their rotation – not to mention the pitcher they were hoping would lead them to victory in a postseason series.
