Seamus Coleman insists his friendship with Ashley Williams will be put to one side for the night in the Everton duo’s clash of the captains.
The defenders are used to playing next to each other in the Blues’ backline but go head-to-head as international skippers when Ireland host Wales in a World Cup qualifier in Dublin on Friday (7.45pm kick-off).
Right-back Coleman will lead out an Ireland side which currently sits top of Group D, having won three and drawn one from their opening four matches.
Meanwhile, his Toffees teammate Williams will don the captain’s armband for the Welsh, as the visitors look to close a four-point gap after winning one and drawing three of their qualifiers to date.
