Opportunity knocks
Texas Tech sophomore Zach Austin and freshman Tony Brown made the most of their chances in the Red Raiders’ 63-35 loss Saturday to No. 5 Baylor. Getting extended time because of injuries to other receivers, Austin caught eight passes for 110 yards, and Brown caught five for 117.
Both caught a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes II, Austin a 55-yarder less than three minutes into the game, and Brown a 13-yarder in the third quarter that cut Tech’s deficit to 42-21.
Tech coach Kliff Kingbury called Austin “a gamer.”
“He works very hard,” Kingsbury said.
