If the Toronto Maple Leafs want the most out of Mitch Marner, a top six spot is what he needs. A player with Marner’s talent is much better served playing in his expected role – and not “earning his keep” in the bottom six.
Much has been said about players having to earn their way into minutes in the NHL and not being handed the keys to the organization right away, but that’s nonsense when it comes to a player with Marner’s talent.
This whole scenario is drawn up because of the poor transfer rules between the CHL and NHL.
