When the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted Auston Matthews, officially, they made an already good prospect system great. The Leafs top three prospects (Nylander, Marner and Matthews) will all be in the lineup this season – year two of the official tear down and rebuild.
Even with all the hype, the Leafs system is still an official unknown – regardless of how good we envision them being very shortly. However, if all goes according to plan, the Toronto Maple Leafs safe prediction of a five year plan is no longer in existence.
With the current roster, including assumed average goaltending, this team should be vying for a playoff spot in 3 years – at the latest.
